After a tough start to his Road America race weekend less than two weeks ago, VRD Racing’s Zack Ping is eager to produce results at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. Taking on the third to last race event of the USF2000 Championship presented by Cooper Tires season, Ping will tackle the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course for a tripleheader race weekend.
“We struggled a little bit at Road America, and it put us back racing drivers that we should not be racing,” explained Ping, “We eventually figured it out, and I think we’re in a good position heading into this race weekend. Mid-Ohio is a very technical course so that’ll be our toughest obstacle. We’re starting to count down the races left in the season, so it’ll be important to get some championship points this weekend, but also continue the learning experience.”
Leaving Road America with an 11th place finish in the second of two wheel-to-wheel races, Ping enters a new race weekend with momentum on his side.
Zack will take part in two test sessions on Thursday before starting official race weekend practice Friday morning, followed by a qualifying session and the first race of the weekend in the afternoon. Saturday will bring a double-header with the two remaining races of the weekend. You can live stream qualifying and all three races at Mid-Ohio this weekend here.
