With news of Noah Ping dropping this morning that he will join Arden VRD in the GB3 Championship program, brother Zack Ping is set to fill his vacant seat in the USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires program at VRD Racing this season. Commencing this weekend, Zack will tackle the Streets of St. Petersburg for his debut in both the series and on a temporary course.
“The pieces of the puzzle have been falling in place for the past few days and it was finally confirmed yesterday,” expressed Zack Ping. “Huge opportunity for my brother to go and race in Europe and same for me to race in the USF2000 program with VRD.”
Battling in the World Racing League and Radical Cup North America program in years past, Zack had tested open-wheel machinery and was ready for a USF Juniors campaign in 2023. Following the news and movement, Zack will compete in the second rung of the USF Pro Championships ladder program and is now set for a full season of competition.
Ping added, “A huge thanks to all our partners and VRD Racing’s Dan Mitchell for being so flexible in the program movement but keeping both Noah and me under the VRD banner. Ecstatic to get the season going and look forward to racing wheel-to-wheel this weekend.”
Working hard behind the scenes, Zack completed a two-day test at the Sebring International Raceway as part of the annual USF Pro Championships Presented by Cooper Tires Spring Training program in preparation for this weekend.
Zack Ping and the complete USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires grid will hit the track on Friday, March 3 for their one and only practice session on the Streets of St. Petersburg. That afternoon, qualifying will take place that will set the grid for Saturday afternoon’s race one of the season before race two on Sunday morning.
