As the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup returns to the Midwest, series officials are pleased to announce discounted entry pricing for two of the Yamaha powered classes and the return of a popular award. While Yamaha Sportsman and Yamaha Senior drivers will receive entry, tires and two days of racing at a steep discount, KA100 Senior competitors will battle for the popular ‘Sword’ in the KA100 Senior Throw Down at Concept Haulers Motor Speedway.
“We are working hard to make racing more affordable,” explained Kevin Williams. “The Yamaha classes have had such a rich history in the WKA Manufacturers Cup Program, especially in the Midwest region, and we want to recognize and reward those drivers still participating with the Yamaha motor package. We have come up with a program that will see Yamaha Sportsman and Senior drivers receive entry, tires and two days of racing at a fraction of the cost to help support our current national level entries as well as local drivers looking to compete in the WKA Manufacturers Cup.”
In place for both events at Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Norway, Illinois and New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana, Yamaha Sportsman competitors will receive entry for two days of racing and one set of Bridgestone YLC race tires for $195.00. Yamaha Senior drivers will receive entry for two days of racing and two sets of Bridgestone YLC Tires for $415.00.
Not to be outdone, the KA100 Senior class will be vying for money and ‘The Sword’ at the upcoming Illinois event.
WKA President Kevin Williams added, “The IAME KA100 Throw Down Sword was a popular award that drivers strived for in Midwest competition. I think it is important that we renew this special award and provide some fun for our senior level drivers. Offering cash awards for KA100 Senior drivers on Saturday, the premier field will race for ‘The Sword’ on Sunday in an all-out wheel-to-wheel battle.”
“I am happy to bring KA100 Throw Down and the Sword back into competition,” explained Franklin Motorsports’ Jamie Sieracki. “Not that the Sword has any monetary value, but the bragging rights of winning this award is priceless.”
In Saturday’s competition, KA100 Senior drivers will be shooting for:
First Place – $200.00
Fastest Lap – $100.00
Oldest Entered Driver – $100.00
Youngest Entered Driver – $100.00
Prior to the main event, a random draw for a kart number entered for the weekend will take place. If your number is drawn, that driver will receive an automatic $50.00. If that kart number wins the race, the driver will also receive a $250.00 bonus on top of their $200.00 winner’s purse.
Online entry for the KA100 Senior class will include two days of racing and race tires. All drivers must be pre-entered to be eligible for Saturday and Sunday awards. All Yamaha drivers must pre-enter online to take advantage of Yamaha class pricing discounts.
WKA will be offering its temporary membership once again for the balance of the 2018 season: only $20.00 for any person who has not been a member in the last twelve months or has not been a member in the past. At the conclusion of the event, any temporary members can become a WKA member by applying the $20.00 fee to a full membership.
