With eight straight wins to start the 2020 season, Tyler Maxson will aim for three more this coming weekend at 14-turn 4.14-mile Road America. Travelling to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, the Copeland Motorsports driver is riding a wave of momentum as he has dominated the season to date as he looks to continue his 2020 success.
“It is going to be difficult, but we will see what we can do,” explained Maxson. “The BOP (Balance of Performance) is not in our favor and could be a major issue down the long Road America front and back straight as well as in several other areas of the high-speed circuit. We will take it all in stride this weekend and play with the cards we are dealt.”
Advancing to the TCR program after claiming the TCA Championship and Rookie-of-the-Year honors in 2019, Maxson jumped behind the wheel of a Hyundai Veloster N for the start of the 2020 season and has seen nothing but the checkered flag in all eight races. Leading the TC America point standings by 95 points, the Georgia resident is on his way to securing the title.
Maxson added, “This has been a dream season to date and though we are focused on finishing the TC America Championship strong, we are already looking at future events and programs for 2021.”
Just as it has been for the previous two rounds, Maxson and his Copeland Motorsports program will hit the track on Wednesday for a Promoters Test Day before official practice begins on Thursday. With another triple header weekend in store, qualifying and race one will take place on Friday with races two and three on Saturday and Sunday.
