Blue Marble Radical Cup North America traveled to Austin, Texas this past weekend for the second to last round of the season taking on the track made famous by Formula One, the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). The Virginia-based team, WISKO Racing, competed with two drivers, young gun Danny Dyszelski in the Pro 1500 class with veteran Jim Booth returning to the Platinum class lineup.
In race one, characterized by the heat and humidity, Danny Dyszelski rolled off the grid from the pole position after setting the fastest lap in qualifying. Dyszelski beat his Pro 1500 championship rival to the line, claiming the win in race one making his return to victory lane. In the Platinum class, Jim Booth started fifth and took advantage of opportunities presented to him, piloting his #63 Radical into second place on the podium.
“Happy to get this win for the team,” explained Danny Dyszelski. “This first race was not easy. The heat adds a whole new factor to the game that we haven’t quite experienced yet this season. Happy I could also grab the fastest lap for race two to start on the pole position tomorrow.”
Earning the fastest lap in race one, Dyszelski started from the inside of the front row again in race two, and continued his podium streak, finishing runner-up in the Pro 1500 class. Booth had a solid race two in the Platinum class, claiming his second top-five finish in fifth.
“Nick (Persing) is always keeping me on my toes in a race,” added Dyszelski. “We are back and forth on race wins. Whenever one of us makes a mistake, the other capitalizes on it, so truly every race and every move made matters in the championship fight.”
Dyszelski made his second appearance at the top of the podium in race three in the Pro 1500 class and took home the fastest lap. With the extra point for the fastest lap, Danny now leads the Pro 1500 driver’s championship race by one point heading into the final race weekend of the season. Booth scored a third top-five finish for the weekend, finishing with his second fifth-place result in the Platinum class.
The WISKO Racing team will look to continue their current momentum, fight for the championship, and have a strong finish to the season at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca September 8th through the 10th, where the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America Series will have their season finale, racing alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
