Currently fourth in the USF Juniors Presented by Cooper Tires Championship point standings, VRD Racing’s Jimmie Lockhart is ready to go again this coming weekend at the VIRginia International Raceway. With a pair of podium results already to his credit, Lockhart is aiming to add three more strong finishes to his season-long total and make a run at the USF Juniors championship.
“We have had some solid results, but also some disappointing finishes,” explained Lockhart. “We have a triple header this weekend and that means three chances to stand atop the podium. Although it is a lofty goal, it is an attainable one.”
Marking his first trip to the 3.27-mile 16-turn road course, Lockhart will have three test sessions prior to one practice session, qualifying, and the three wheel-to-wheel races. With all on-track sessions jammed into the three-day weekend, Lockhart is looking to close the gap to the championship point leader, all while aiming to represent VRD Racing and his partners on the top step of the podium.
Lockhart added, “We need a good weekend. We should have more points than we currently do and IVIR is a good time to turn that around and make a run at the title.”
