VemmeKart USA was back in action this past weekend at the final round of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series. Taking on the AMR Motorplex in the shadows of the Homestead-Miami Speedway, two exceptional drivers entered two of the most talent-filled classes in karting and showed speed to run at the front of the field.
“It was great to be back on track in sunny Florida with our Vemme Kart brand,” explained Andy Gernand, Owner of VemmeKart USA and the North American Importer for the product line. “Both Elliot Cox and Braden Eves showed tremendous speed throughout the weekend running well inside the top-ten, and were blindsided by the results of the main events.”
Mini Swift driver Elliot Cox would hover around the top-ten throughout the weekend qualifying seventh on Saturday and eighth on Sunday. A pair of tenth place results in the two heat races over the course of the weekend gave him a fighting chance at the race win. In the end, he settled for an 11th place result on Saturday but improved to score his best SKUSA Winter Series result to date on Sunday, crossing the stripe and securing an eighth place result.
X30 Senior driver and open wheel formula car racer Braden Eves made his return to the VemmeKart USA seat and was instantly a threat for podium results. A 12th place qualifying effort on Saturday turned into a ninth place result in the heat race and an inside row five starting position for the main event. Driving forward into the top-five, Eves eventually settled for an 11th place finish after a fierce battle in the day’s main event.
Sunday proved to be a little more difficult for Eves as an impressive sixth place effort in qualifying was erased in the prefinal as contact relegated him to the tail of the field and classified in 34th. Looking to make the best of the main event and close the weekend strong, Eves had a spirited drive forward, gaining fifteen positions to come home 19th and was named the biggest mover of the race by passing the most karts.
Gernand continued, “While the results were not what we had hoped, we proved that the speed in the Vemme Kart product line is there and we are very excited about the 2019 season.”
On the West Coast of the United States, Vemme Kart branded drivers saw action in the ROK Cup USA Challenge of the Americas with great success. Congrats to all Vemme Kart teams and drivers on your race wins, multiple podiums and a successful start to the 2019 season.
