It will be a busy weekend of competition for Georgia resident Tyler Maxson as the teenager will do battle in a pair of IMSA classes at the Watkins Glen International Raceway. Competing out of the Bryan Herta Autosport camp in the Michelin Pilot Challenge program, Maxson will also join MLT Motorsports in an IMSA Le Mans Prototype 3 (LMP3) effort as he tackles the 3.37-mile, 11-turn New York facility.

“Definitely ready to go,” expressed Maxson, who alongside his Pilot Challenge program will compete in his first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event of 2022. “Ready to turn my Michelin Pilot Challenge season around and see what we can do in the Prototype car. I had a good test a few weeks ago at Watkins Glen so I’m excited to get back there in race trim.”

Piloting a Hyundai Elantra N TCR as well as a Ligier JS P320, it will be a weekend of back and forth for the young teenager.

Maxson added, “I enjoy the challenge of going back and forth between two different cars and of course love the track time. I think the additional laps will strengthen both programs and race weekend drives as I will be able to stay on top of the changing track conditions from day to day.”

Set to hit the track on Thursday to begin his event weekend, Maxson will compete in practice and qualifying sessions before wheel-to-wheel action begins on Saturday. With the two-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge race taking place on late Saturday afternoon, Maxson will rest up that night prior to the six-hour LMP3 race on Sunday, part of the famed IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
