With nine straight wins to start the season, Tyler Maxson’s win streak was halted in round ten at Road America but the Copeland Motorsports driver is determined to restart his winning ways. Taking an eighty-seven-point lead into rounds twelve through fourteen this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, Maxson is will be aiming for the top step of the podium all while trying to secure the 2020 TC America TCR Drivers Championship.

“We will always race to win but we also have to look at the big picture,” expressed Maxson. “The goal is to win the Drivers’ Championship for myself as well as the Team Championship for Copeland Motorsports. We also want to ensure that the Hyundai brand is on top in the Manufacturers points chase so there is a lot on the line with five races remaining.”

Heading to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, Maxson and Copeland will return to the site of their first two wins of 2020. While a lot has happened between then and now, a good setup off the trailer will be key to trying to stay out front with the target placed firmly on the #74 Hyundai Veloster N TCR.

“As a team, we will continue to push to the maximum and provide the best equipment possible to close each race event on top,” added Copeland Motorsports’ Dean Copeland. “Tyler has performed nearly flawlessly and that transitions well to a strong championship run. He has a bright future in motorsports.”

With on track action commencing with practice on Thursday, qualifying and three wheel-to-wheel races will take place Friday through Sunday. With a maximum of seventy-five championship points on the line, Maxson could leave Austin, Texas with his second championship in as many seasons.

Maxson added “Thank you to all of my family, friends and partners for the support throughout the season. The goal from before the first green flag was the series championship, and we are in a good position for that. Hopefully we can close that out this weekend and begin to make our plans for 2021 and beyond.”

Tyler Maxson would like to thank Copeland Motorsports, Bryan Herta Autosport, Hyundai, HRX USA and Four Seasons Auto Wash for all of their help, support and hard work throughout the 2020 season.
