TYLER MAXSON SHOOTS FOR A WIN IN VIRGINIA

This year’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge frequent pole position winner Tyler Maxson makes his way to the East Coast and the scenic VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) for the “Virginia Is For Racing Lovers Grand Prix” and the ninth round of the 2022 season. Maxson along with his Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) driving partner Mason Filippi are still looking for the top step of the podium despite having four pole positions this year in their Hyundai Elantra N TCR machine.

“We’re consistently fast at VIR so we’re excited to go out there and give it everything we’ve got,” explained Maxson, who finished just shy of a podium in fourth place, making him that more eager to get on the top step of the podium this year.  “I got a taste of it last year, and I have a great relationship with Mason [Filippi] and Bryan Herta Autosport and hope together that we can close the season strong.”

Taking on VIR, the ultra-fast race circuit suits the Hyundai equipment and Maxson looks to take advantage of all the benefits that the weekend can bring.

“I relish the opportunity to show what we can really do,” added Maxson. “We can claim pole positions it seems at will, now we just need to convert the speed into race results once wheel-to-wheel racing begins.”

Tyler Maxson, Mason Filippi and their team, Bryan Herta Autosport, take to the track at VIRginia International Raceway Friday, August 26 where they will partake in three practice sessions, qualify, then rush to the green flag Saturday, August 27 for the 2-hour long “Virginia Is For Racing Lovers Grand Prix.”
