With two pole positions in two races, Tyler Maxson, along with his co-driver Mason Filippi, will be looking to make it three-for-three this weekend. Taking on the famed WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb Agajanian duo will be looking to turn their qualifying pace into a race win or podium result during the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca 120.
“We are ready,” expressed Maxson. “I have personally had some success at Laguna Seca and the Hyundais have always been fast there, so we are excited to get on track and get the weekend started. As we have proven with our qualifying efforts, the pace is there, we just need to execute in the race, and I am sure we can battle for the race win.”
Piloting the #77 Hyundai, Maxson and Filippi will pilot a three time championship winning Veloster N TCR this weekend and for the next couple of races. Currently sitting 14th in the Drivers’ Championship, a result that does not reflect their true speed, the switch in models comes after an incident at the most recent race that heavily damaged their Elantra. The BHA pair will look to turn that around this weekend beginning with the first practice session on Friday.
Maxson added, “We know the Veloster is fast as it has been proven by their championship performances in the past. We will push hard this weekend to keep our pole position streak alive, but more importantly, to stand on the podium come the final checkered flag of the weekend.”
