With the IMSA-sanctioned Ford Mustang Challenge program set to commence in June, a new competitor has entered the mix. Competing with the Robert Noaker Racing (RNR) program, Tyler Maxson will join the new series and become an instant threat for race wins, podiums, and the overall series title. Driving the #74 entry, Maxson will be in a Robert Noaker Racing team car as he reconnects with competitors from his karting days.

“I can’t thank them for the opportunity,” expressed Maxson. “I am anxious to get started and excited for the opportunity. Also, reconnecting with Robert after battling wheel-to-wheel in karting and working together in the same program is cool.”

The Mustang Challenge will host a full field of Mustang Dark Horse R racecars running on bespoke race tires from official series partner Michelin. The series will compete at some of the most iconic tracks in North America, including Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, Road America, COTA and a season finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home to the Ford Performance Racing School, which will manage the official spec racing series.

Maxson continued, “I am excited to return to sprint racing with a single-driver format. It puts the control back in my hands. It has been a long time since I have been in a spec series, and I look forward to the challenge.”

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to have Tyler on our team,” explained Robert Noaker. “Having known Tyler for over ten years, we have kept an eye on his progress and have been impressed.  We know he can win races and compete for the championship.  Having Tyler on the team will speed up our program with his feedback on the car in the new Mustang Challenge series.”
