The IMSA-sanctioned Ford Mustang Challenge gears up for its third round at Road America this weekend, officially marking the halfway point in the five-event championship. Current championship leader and Robert Noaker Racing driver Tyler Maxson looks to repeat his success on the top of the podium in the doubleheader race weekend on the lengthy 4.048-mile, 14-turn track dubbed America’s National Park of Speed.
Maxson now claims three out of the four possible wins in the Ford Mustang Challenge after a sweep in round two at Watkins Glen International. He also scored a debut win and pole position at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in early June.
“We’ve had a lot of success in the season so far,” explained Maxson. “The Robert Noaker Racing program is a premier program, and we feel we’ve really got the car dialed in after the last round. Road America will still be a challenging race with the length of the track and huge draft opportunity that it provides, but the team and I are looking forward to more success in the #74 car.”
With a pair of practice sessions on the docket for this weekend, qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel action will occur on Saturday, with race two going green on Sunday.
