With three victories and six podiums to his credit in six of the Toyota GR Cup North America program events, Tyler Gonzalez heads to Nashville, Tennessee this weekend and the Music City Grand Prix. Set for the series’ first street race, Gonzalez and the rest of the GR Cup North America teams and competitors will race with the NTT INDYCAR Series in what will be the biggest event for the program since the series launched earlier this year.

Thirty-three markers ahead of his closest rival, Gonzalez enters the one and only street race of the season riding a wave of momentum. Never finishing off the podium this season, the young Copeland Motorsports driver is looking to extend his point lead.

“The challenges and risks of a street race are much higher than most racecourses we visit but I come here with some street racing experience in other series of competition,” explained Gonzalez. “The goal will be to keep it off the walls and get the best track position as possible as early as possible. I think if we can do that, we will have a good chance at earning another win.”

Flexing his muscles in 2023, Gonzalez has scored more than double the number of points as the driver that sits third in the championship standings.

Gonzalez added, “Yes, we are leading the points battle but it is by no means at a comfortable margin. Anything can happen at any time, and we just need to make sure that we are executing to the best of our abilities more than the other guys.”

Set to hit the track Friday for a pair of practice sessions, qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend, Music City Grand Prix will take place Saturday before race two Sunday following the INDYCAR SERIES event.
