Making his debut in the TC America TCA class at the final event of the season in 2019 and showing race winning pace at the 2020 season opener at the Circuit of the Americas, Copeland Motorsports driver Tyler Gonzalez is ready to get back on track. Taking the Covid-19 break to test his Hyundai TCA as government guidelines allowed, Gonzalez also returned to the karting ranks recently to provide some coaching to the next wave of drivers looking to make the move from karts to cars.

“It has been a long time coming,” expressed Gonzalez. “It wasn’t all bad as I was able to do some sim events, test at a few different locations around the country as well as get back to my roots in karting. I think getting back to the track and seeing the guys from the team and my fellow competitors will be a big breath of fresh air.”

Piloting a Copeland Motorsports prepared Hyundai, Tyler Gonzalez will look to repeat the speed from his Saturday performance nearly four months ago in Austin, Texas. As the driver the beat and the fastest car in the field, Gonzalez was the first one to the checkered flag, taking the first victory of the season and his first win of his TCA career. Sunday, Gonzalez finished just outside the top-five but aims to improve on that result this coming weekend.

Gonzalez added, “I want to win. My goal is to win. I am committed to winning. This weekend is the same as any other weekend in that regard and I look forward to the challenges. I also look forward to competing alongside my new teammate Luke Lange and hope that we can become the duo to beat in TCA in 2020.”

With a Promoter Test Day kicking off the on-track action on Wednesday, teams and competitors will move into official practice on Thursday before qualifying and race one take place on Friday with race two and three of the weekend running Saturday and Sunday.
