It was a trip to Leeds, Alabama and the Barber Motorsports Park, also known as the Alabama Roller Coaster, for rounds four through six of the Radical Cup North America program. Bringing six competitors for their series debut, EVR Motorsports left the weekend with two podium results and seven top-five finishes in a great weekend of racing.

“It was our series debut, and it was busy,” explained Mike Eyler. “It is never easy coming in and competing with the competition that is in this series, but I think we performed well for our first weekend and have a list of improvements that we will have in place before our next event.”

Five EVR Motorsports drivers would try their hand in the ultra-fast Platinum class, and Ryan Booth led the quintet in qualifying. Clocking the fourth fastest lap of the session, Booth started race one from the outside of row two, just ahead of Louis Schriber, who slotted into fifth. Jim Booth, David Alban, and Jay Dermot began their quest for success from the eighth, ninth, and tenth positions and would look to move forward once the wheel-to-wheel action commenced.

Saturday afternoon saw the first race of the weekend, and it was once again Ryan Booth who led the way. Starting fourth on the grid, Booth advanced to second, earning EVR Motorsports their first-ever podium result. Father Jim Booth remained consistent and advanced, crossing under the checkered flag in the sixth position, one position ahead of Alban in seventh. Louis Schriber ran into some trouble in race one but looked to races two and three to make headway and add to the EVR Motorsports results resume. Unfortunately, Dermot could not take the green flag and would not compete for the rest of the weekend.

Back to the track Saturday for races two and three, Alban climbed the running order for EVR Motorsports, earning a fourth-place finish, his best of the season with Schriber rebounding from Friday’s race to finish just behind him in fifth, and put two EVR Motorsports drivers in the top-five. Jim Booth chased them until the end, finishing sixth in race two, while Ryan Booth failed to make the race start due to an issue.

Schriber finally got redemption in race three as he rocketed toward the front to stand on the podium in the second position. In a race that featured a mandatory pit stop, Schriber and EVR Motorsports executed it perfectly to put the pressure on their competitors and ultimately earned EVR Motorsports their second podium result of the weekend. Alban was able to add another top-five finish in fifth, while Jim Booth was classified in the seventh position.

In the talent-filled Pro 1500 class, Evan Slater flew the EVR Motorsports banner as a single entry and held his own, earning a pair of top-five finishes. After clocking the fourth fastest lap in qualifying, Slater went on to finish seventh in race one before advancing to fourth on the results sheets in race two. Closing the weekend strong, Slater battled at the front of the Pro 1500 field and earned another top-five result in race three, finishing fifth.

Eyler continued, “Congrats to our drivers, mechanics, engineers, and coaches on a successful debut. Now we go back to work and come out even stronger for the next one!”
