TOPP Racing delivered a dominant performance this past weekend at Watkins Glen International in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America series. With an extra race on the schedule to make up for a rain out at Road America, the team and its drivers rose to the challenge, securing strong results and valuable championship momentum.
The weekend began with the Road America makeup race on Friday, where Cole Kleck piloted his Porsche to a commanding victory, setting the tone for what would become a memorable weekend. On Saturday, Kleck continued his run of form by capturing pole position for the first Watkins Glen race, which he converted into another win with precision driving. On Sunday, Kleck completed the sweep, winning the final race of the weekend and further solidifying his position as the driver to beat in the GT3 class.
Kleck’s three victories extended his near-perfect record this season and strengthened his lead in the GT3 championship standings heading into the series finale.
Teammate Francisco De Jesus also showed resilience throughout the challenging three-race weekend in the 992 Masters class. In Friday’s makeup race, he finished 16th in class, before improving to 14th in Saturday’s contest after starting 16th. On Sunday, De Jesus capped off the weekend with his best drive yet, climbing to an 11th-place finish in class.
“This was a huge weekend for our team,” said team owner Todd Oppermann. “Cole showed why he’s been such a force this season, and Francisco kept improving every session and brought home his best result of the weekend on Sunday. Having three races in one weekend is no small task, but our team executed flawlessly. Now we’re ready to carry this momentum into Road Atlanta for the championship fight.”
The Porsche Sprint Challenge North America season will conclude next weekend at Road Atlanta, September 12–13, where Kleck will look to close out the championship in style and De Jesus will aim to continue his upward trajectory.
