TOPP Racing has announced that Tyler Maxson will return to the team for the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season, continuing a partnership that enters the year with championship expectations. Heading into his sophomore campaign after a solid rookie season, TOPP Racing and Tyler Maxson became a major championship threat in year two.
The team heads into 2026 as the defending Porsche Carrera Cup North America champions after clinching the 2025 title. Building on that success, Maxson will once again pilot the Apex-sponsored Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car as he prepares for a full-scale run at the championship.
Maxson is coming off a strong 2025 campaign, in which he finished fifth in the championship standings and spent much of the season firmly in the championship fight. His consistency and pace throughout the year established him as a regular front-runner and a key contributor to the team’s title-winning effort.
“Last season gave me a lot of confidence in myself and in this team,” explained Maxson. “We showed that we can run up front consistently, and coming back as defending team champions raises the bar even higher. I’m excited to build on what we learned in 2025 and go after the championship in 2026.”
Team owner Todd Oppermann echoed that confidence heading into the new season.
“Tyler proved last season that he has everything it takes to contend for wins and championships in this series,” added Oppermann. “His growth, professionalism, and race craft were on full display, and we’re thrilled to have him back as we look to defend our title and help him in his fight for the driver’s championship in 2026.”
TOPP Racing and Maxson will kick off the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season at Sebring International Raceway, with the opening round scheduled for March 18 through March 20.
