After a consistent and encouraging start to the 2025 Porsche Sprint Challenge North America season, Black Sheep Racing (BSR) and driver Laura Ely carried their momentum into the iconic Circuit of the Americas (COTA) this past weekend. Competing in the highly competitive 992 Masters Class, Ely delivered another pair of strong performances, notching top-ten results in both races.
Coming off a solid outing at Sonoma Raceway, where Ely finished eighth and ninth in class, the focus heading into Texas was clear: continue progressing and push closer to the front. In Saturday’s qualifying, Ely secured 11th in class, setting the stage for a competitive race one. Showing poise and precision at the challenging 20-turn Grand Prix circuit, Ely advanced through the field to finish seventh, her best result of the 2025 season so far.
On Sunday, Ely returned to the track with confidence and maintained her pace, ultimately crossing the line in eighth place, closing out a weekend of continued improvement and valuable championship points.
“I’m really proud of what we achieved this weekend,” explained Ely. “COTA is a tough track with a little bit of everything—high speed, heavy braking, and rhythm sections. Mix that with a new class and increased competition, and we are still learning. The car felt great, and I’m gaining more confidence each time out. The Black Sheep Racing crew has been phenomenal, and we’re definitely building something strong together.”
With consistent results now across back-to-back race weekends, Black Sheep Racing remains focused on continued growth in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America program. Laura Ely will be back behind the wheel as the series heads to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for the next round on July 11–13, 2025.
