It is time for the first event of the famed Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the GMR Grand Prix. Set to continue to fight for race wins, podium results, and championship points will be TJ Speed USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires drivers Francesco Pizzi, Christian Weir, and Lirim Zendeli.
“We have been anticipating getting back in the cars since the break started,” Team Boss Tim Neff explained. “We had a pair of podium finishes during the last event in Sebring and are ready for even more in May. This coming weekend is our first of two events this month, and big opportunity to gain some momentum to push through the heart of the race season.”
Before the break, TJ Speed took on Sebring International Raceway for rounds three and four where they ended the weekend with both Pizzi and Zendelli landing podium finishes and rounding out the weekend third and fourth in the overall championship point standings. In race two, Weir also secured the tenth-fastest lap of the race as he continues to progress through his rookie USF Pro 2000 season.
Going into the GMR Grand Prix event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, TJ Speed is preparing to have their three cars continue to battle for points and positions as they return to competition alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the complete ladder program of the USF Pro Championships.
Neff added, “We have made it a beneficial break by reviewing the events of the first weekends of the season and putting the knowledge into action going forward. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a fast, flat, and flowing layout that I feel suits our drivers.”
There is a change in the schedule for this coming event. The GMR Grand Prix does not follow the standard Friday to Sunday schedule as most weekends as it kicks off on Thursday with two test sessions followed by the only official practice session for the weekend. Qualifying and race one will occur on Friday with the event concluding on Saturday with race two.
