On the strength of multiple wins and podiums during the first Superkarts! USA Pro Tour weekend of 2020, Speed Concepts Racing and Redspeed returned to New Castle Motorsports Park for rounds four, five and six. Running the Reverse National layout, teams and competitors would compete on a rarely used layout to equal the playing field for all involved. When the final checkered flag had flown, Speed Concepts Racing had garnered another three wins, nine podiums and a Pro Tour championship title.
“Congratulations to Scott on his championship,” expressed Mike Speed. “He drove well and smart to ensure he was always near the front of the field. With consistent and strong finishes, Scott was able to deliver championship performances in X30 Masters to take the title.”
Scott Roberts added a trio of wins over the weekend taking the checkered flag in all three main events and scoring the fastest lap of the race in both Friday and Sunday races. Showing his strength all series long, Roberts was the biggest mover in round four on Friday and went on to secure the SKUSA Pro Tour Championship.
Luca Mars, the only driver to pull double duty at the 2020 Pro Tour, did so by never running outside the top-five the second Pro Tour weekend. Claiming three second place podium finishes in KA100 Senior, Mars was one of the most consistent drivers in the class and was a presence at the front of the field throughout the six races. In his X30 Senior program, Mars was on the third step of the podium during round four and added two more top-five finishes in rounds five and six, flexing his muscles and showing why he is one of the top senior pilots in the country.
Two additional Pro Tour podiums came from the X30 Junior continent of drivers as Paul Bocuse scored the fastest lap of Friday’s final to finish P3 while Jack Jeffers mimicked his performance on Sunday to climb to the third step of the podium, backing up his fifth-place finish from Saturday. Jace Park was involved in an incident during Friday’s X30 Junior main event that resulted in a broken arm and after attempting to get behind the wheel of his Redspeed machine on Saturday morning, the decision not to race was made after the morning warmup was complete. Speed Concepts Racing wishes Jace a speedy recovery and that he is able to return at their next event in Wisconsin.
Speed added, “Our junior drivers performed nearly perfect two weeks ago but this weekend they were caught up some incidents that were no fault of their own. It was a solid performance for us, and I am proud of where we have helped these drivers come.”
Luke Lange returned to the Speed Concepts Racing program after beginning his car racing career and entered his name in the mix in X30 Senior. Having not competed in a national karting event for nearly six months, Lange was able to get up to speed and score a pair of top-twenty results on Friday and Saturday, a feat in itself in the talent-laden X30 Senior field.
Speed Concepts Racing would like to thank OTK USA, Redspeed, Precision Works Racing Engines and Allison Racing Engines for their products, help, support and hard work over a busy two weeks of competition.
