It was the annual trip to Grantsville, Utah, and the ultra-fast Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) this past weekend for Black Sheep Racing. Entering a pair of drivers, 992 Masters competitor Laura Ely and Cayman Master GT4 driver and team newcomer Greg Herback, the duo earned three podium results and four top-five finishes when the weekend finally concluded.

“It was a great weekend for the team, and great to have a new driver in our program stand on the podium in his first event,” explained Laura Ely. “I would have loved to continue my winning ways from Spring Mountain a month ago, but I managed to garner some great points toward the overall series championship.”

“It was a good first event with the Black Sheep Racing crew,” added Greg Herback. “They are indeed a professional program, and the results prove it.”

After qualifying fifth in the 992 Masters class, Ely would stand on the podium on Saturday in the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend, finishing third. Herback, battling in the Cayman Master GT4 class, turning his third-place qualifying effort into a second-place podium result and a double podium for Black Sheep Racing.

Back to the track Sunday, Herback repeated his performance from the day prior, adding his second podium result in as many days, while Ely crossed under the checkered flag in the fourth position, just shy of the podium.

Ely continued, “Not the result that I was looking for, but really happy for Greg and the entire Black Sheep Racing crew. I can’t thank them enough for all of their hard work and major efforts.”
