Completing four national level events in Florida over the past two months, Indiana based Supertune is on the road to California for the opening round of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour. Taking part at the Calspeed Karting facility on the grounds of the Auto Club Speedway, six Supertune drivers, from two different countries and four different states, will take part in the annual WinterNationals as they look to kick off their 2019 Pro Tour battles with race wins.
A quintet of Supertune drivers will enter the talented field of IAME Mini Swift as all four will pilot the new Tony Kart Mini chassis. Kai Sorenson, the Superkarts! USA Winter Series Mini Swift Champion and current point leader in the Florida Winter Tour, will lead the way as he will be joined by Anderson Leonard, Enzo Deligny, Xander Reed and Elliot Cox. Leonard and Deligny have already stood on the podium in 2019 and will look to challenge Sorenson for the race win while Cox makes the move to the Tony Kart chassis and Supertune program for the trip out west.
Reed will rejoin Supertune in California as the Texan debuted with the team just two weeks ago. Showing great pace and running near the front of the Micro field, Reed will make the jump to the Mini ranks and will look to put his Tony Kart on top.
“Our Mini program has been very successful since we debuted late last year,” explained Ben Cruttenden, Owner of Supertune. “We have great drivers and great equipment, so the speed is normally there. On the weekends we just need to work together, fine tune and then go for it in the main event.”
British driver Freddy Slater will make the long trip from England to California and the move to the Supertune program for the 2019 SKUSA Pro Tour. Competing in the X30 Junior class, Slater will battle a full field of Junior drivers in his quest for a podium result.
Cruttenden continued, “We are running a little satellite program in California this weekend as our main unit stayed back in Florida for an event in a few weeks. It has been a lot of work to organize, pack and ship to ensure that we have all the tools and equipment that we need to be successful. I’m looking forward to getting back on track and back to the podium.”
