Steven Clemons Jr. joins BSI Racing contesting the pink #76 Toyota GR Cup car in the series’ inaugural season with affiliates LINCS and BluDiscovery. Clemons, excited for such a large professional kickoff, is set for next weekend at the famed Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California.

“We are honored to have Steven choose and trust in us for his 2023 Toyota GR Cup debut and are thrilled to add this SRO program to our wheelhouse,” explained BSI Racing Team Owner Shea Holbrook. “Steven is a talented driver and one we’ve been working on within our development programs since the end of 2021.”

Beginning his motorsports career at the age of 17, Steven is in for a big season in 2023 as he is set to tackle multiple different race programs. Clemons’ background steams from the highly competitive Spec Miata ranks, the largest amateur class in the country, and has added endurance programs in his schedule over the last year. With the Toyota GR Cup being his primary focus, Clemons continues to sharpen his skills in various BSI Racing programs throughout the season.

“I am thankful to be able to compete in such a high-profile series, but to also be part of the BSI program,” explained Clemons. “Shea and Nick run and are part of several big teams, and I am lucky to have the opportunity to bring my partners LINCS and BluDiscovery to a national platform with SRO and Toyota under the BSI Racing banner.”

Campaigning this new program in a way is a homecoming for Team Owners, Shea Holbrook, and Nick Chorley. During the 2010-2017 World Challenge era, Holbrook competed and ran a Touring Car team where they saw years of success.

“This year will bring back so many great memories while creating new ones with the Clemons family,” said Holbrook. “They remind me a lot of how we started our professional careers in the industry. Steven’s partners are a perfect fit for this demographic of racing as they are focused on STEAM educational programs. With the GR Cup having a youth focus, I know we’re going to see Steven helping pave the way showcasing how one can create opportunities, utilize resources, and maximize one’s platform.”

BSI Racing will hit the track Wednesday, March 28 for a pair of test days prior to qualifying and three wheel-to-wheel races over the weekend. Stay tuned to the BSI Racing social media pages for news, information, photos, and results from the event weekend.

LINCS, Lowcountry Innovators, Creators & Scientists, creates opportunities for under-resourced communities in the South Carolina region. LINCS closes the gap in STEAM education for middle and high school students in the Charleston area. Charleston’s older youth are at a crossroads; deciding whether to further their education or enter the workplace after graduation. Many adults face a similar dilemma within their own professional paths. LINCS is on a mission to create more STEAM-focused growth opportunities for all—regardless of socioeconomic barriers.

BluDiscovery, a STEAM Education and Innovation Center, and affiliate program of LINCS is scheduled to launch in 2024 and will feature an interactive exhibit hall, immersive spaces, classrooms dedicated to coding and robotics, workshops focused on woodworking, ironworking, pottery, graphic design, screen/3D printing, visual arts, as well as modular and virtual science laboratories.

As one of the first multidisciplinary STEAM spaces in America focused on both middle to high school youth and adults, BluDiscovery plans to offer a wide range of interactive experiences to enhance the exploration and discovery of STEAM, so they can gain a better understanding of the world around them.
