Returning to action in the Radical Cup North America program, Stephen Cameron Racing with Radical Northwest is set for an assault in the Pro 1500 ranks with a trio of drivers. As the defending Pro 1500 Drivers Champion at the hands of Nick Persing and Team Champion, the West Coast program is aiming high with Arul Venkatesh as he is joined by rookies Spencer Schmidt and Corey Neveau for the first event of the season this weekend at the Sebring International Raceway.

“We have a strong driver lineup this season as we look to repeat the success of 2023,” explained Steve Cameron, Radical Northwest Owner and Dealer of the Year in 2023. “While a pair of our drivers are rookies, we feel the increased cars under the tent will only make our efforts stronger in 2024.”

With a storied career in Grand-Am, SRO, and IMSA competition, as well as Formula Atlantic with Lynx Racing, team owner Steve Cameron has been instrumental in the development of numerous stars including former INDYCAR driver Patrick Carpentier, ‘super-sub’ Memo Gidley, Alex Barron, Indianapolis 500 Champion Buddy Rice, Michael Valiante, Daytona 500 Winner Michael McDowell, Bryan Sellers, and Porsche Penske Motorsport driver Dane Cameron – who happens to be Cameron’s nephew.

Returning to Radical Cup North America competition is second-year driver Arul Venkatesh as he receives support from Rocketship VC. A former Formula 4 competitor in the Formula Pro USA program, Venkatesh has been honing his skills in Radical Northwest machinery as he looks to make a run at the 2024 Pro 1500 Championship.

Spencer Schmidt, son of McLaren INDYCAR’s Sam Schmidt, brings a load of talent to the Radical Cup program as he looks to climb his way through the ranks. Competing in both the Skip Barber Formula Car Series and Toyota GR Cup North America in 2023, Schmidt is ready for his Radical Cup North America debut this weekend at the Sebring International Raceway.

Beside Venkatesh and Schmidt is Corey Neveau. Racing karts as a kid and winning the SKUSA S5 Junior Shifter class championship in 2009, Neveau also added a SKUSA SuperNationals podium that same season. Since then, Corey has raced Super Late Models in the Spears Southwest Tour, Ford Focus Midgets, and Legends Cars. Entering the 2024 season, Neveau will try his hand at sportscar racing with support from Long Beach, California’s Class Auto Motorsports.

Cameron added, “It’s been a busy week with my son testing in open-wheel cars and our first Radical Cup race of the season. Love this time of year as it is time to get going again and chase down some hardware.”
