Speed Concepts Racing (SCR) gears up for the biggest race of the year, the SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals 21, November 15-19. Taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada and with prize money and the prestigious SuperNats Champion title on the line, SCR brings a strong line-up of seven drivers to the international event, competing in the Mini Swift and X30 Junior categories.
Tyler Gonzalez, Jeremy Fairbairn, and Zane Maloney are set to battle in the highly competitive X30 Junior field. Gonzalez and Fairbairn had impressive performances this year in the SKUSA Pro Tour and will look to carry that momentum through Las Vegas. Both drivers recently returned from Italy after participating in the ROK International Final, and will be pushing for a strong finish in Vegas to close out their seasons. Maloney is ranked as one of the top drivers in Europe, and recently participated in the Barbados Festival of Speed. He is looking forward to getting back in a kart for the most exciting karting event of the year.
“With the 2017 season nearly finished, we are looking to close it out on a high,” expressed Mike Speed, Owner of Speed Concepts Racing. “Tyler had a great win at the SuperNats last year and he will be looking to repeat, and I know Jeremy and Zane are hungry for the top step of the podium as well. Looking forward to getting started.”
Speed continued, “While I was at the OK Junior World championship at PFI in England, I was very impressed with Ricky Flynn Motorsports driver Zane Maloney. Ricky was very helpful with Tyler Gonzalez during the event, pulling off an impressive fifth place finish. I thank Ricky for his help overseas, and for loaning me his driver for the SuperNats!”
Four drivers will throw their hats into the mix in the Mini Swift category; Alex Powell, Kyffin Simpson, Paul Bocuse, and Calem Maloney. Powell and Bocuse recently returned home from the ROK International Final in Italy, and will be taking what they learned overseas to put on a strong performance on the Vegas circuit. Simpson participated in the Barbados Festival of Speed in October, earning the victory in the kart portion of the program and hopes to continue his winning streak back in the US to end his season strong. Maloney will join his brother on the SCR team for the event, and is looking forward to showing what he has to offer on the temporary Vegas circuit.
Speed added, “Our Mini drivers have really come into their own as of late. Paul and Alex have made great strides since joining SCR and it is very cool to help them with and view their progress. The two kids have hearts of champions. Scoring race wins, podium results and gaining experience along the way, I know they will be strong in Las Vegas and onwards into 2018. It will be a stacked field for sure but our only goals are wins and podiums. Kyffin has been strong from the very beginning, showing race winning speed at nearly every event, and I am expecting big things from him in Las Vegas. This will be his final event in the Mini ranks as he will move to Junior in 2018.”
