A victor on several occasions in 2019, Tyler Maxson will look to do it again this weekend as the TC America program visits Watkins Glen International. As the current Rookie of the Year points leader in the TCA class and sitting second in the overall championship, the talented 14-year-old is aiming for the top step of the podium and a chance at the series championship with just six races remaining.

“It feels like I have been out of the seat forever, and I cannot wait to get the weekend started,” explained Maxson. “We have had some time off to plan and look at 2020, but we are back to focusing on the task at hand as the season begins to wind down. I really want both the Rookie of the Year and the overall series titles.”

With a commanding lead in the rookie title chase, Maxson sits a mere 18 markers behind the current TC America TCA point leader with three event weekends to go. With a maximum of 50 points available per driver per weekend, there is still a lot of racing to go, and anything can happen.

Maxson continued, “In my last four races, I have had two wins and two third place results. We have been consistent in our finishes but now we will need to make sure that we are ahead of our competition. I have never competed at Watkins Glen, but I have been doing some work off the track to make sure that I am 100% prepared.”

With official tests and practice beginning on Friday, Tyler Maxson will hit the track on Saturday morning for qualifying and then again Saturday afternoon for the first race of the weekend. Race two will take place Sunday morning and the Copeland Motorsports driver is aiming for the top step of the podium blocks.

“I have to give a huge shout out to my team, Copeland Motorsports, for what they are pulling off this weekend,” added Maxson. “A split squad sees us on both coasts with two trucks and trailers and two complete programs. It is a big undertaking by all involved and my goal is to reward them with a pair of victories for all of their hard work.”
