Noted as one of the drivers to beat headed into the 2022 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich Tires (MX-5 Cup) season, Selin Rollan has committed his talents to Hixon Motor Sports (HMS) in his quest for the series title. Marking his fifth season in the program, this will be Rollan’s second year with the HMS Team as he has his sights firmly set on the top step of the podium and at the end of the season championship.

“We are eager to get the season started and fight for race wins with not only Selin, but all of our drivers,” explained Bryan Hixon. “Selin did a tremendous job in 2021 and provided HMS with their first win. Now with a year under his belt with the team and the cohesiveness and synergy we have as a team, we are confident that Rollan will be a major threat for the 2022 title.”

“It feels like just yesterday when I was a rookie in the series and now, in year five, I am one of the drivers with the most experience,” added Rollan, who claimed a handful of race wins and an overall third-place finish in the end of the year points battle, banquet and awards ceremony. “This year is slightly different for me, as alongside my racing duties, I will be working with the Austin Hatcher Foundation which is a pediatric cancer foundation. I am very excited to race for such a great and heartwarming cause, and I am definitely thankful for Bryan and the whole HMS team to have me for a second year and give me all the tools necessary to fight for a championship.”

Earning twelve wins in the previous four seasons, Rollan enters the 2022 campaign as a seasoned veteran in the MX-5 Cup. With four of those wins and a total of eight podiums in 2021, the first green flag can’t come soon enough for the championship hopeful.

Rollan added, “I believe in this team. They have the best assets in place to have all our drivers fight for race wins and podium results. I look forward to working with all my teammates, as well as Bryan and Shea, to help bring the Hixon Motor Sports results and brand to the next level in the paddock and off the track.”

The first two races out of 14 in the MX-5 Cup will take place at Daytona International Speedway during the renowned Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona weekend, January 27-30. If you cannot attend in person, you’ll be able to watch Selin and his HMS teammates racing live with commentary all-season long on www.IMSA.TV.
