With one of their major focuses in 2020 on the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS), Speed Concepts Racing (SCR) made the long trek north from Central Florida to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. With rounds three and four taking place at the CTECH Manufacturing Motorplex on the grounds of Road America, the Redspeed branded effort closed the weekend with one victory, four podiums and eight top-five results.
Leading the way on the Speed Concepts Racing results sheet was X30 Masters driver Scott Roberts. Always a threat for victory, Roberts finished third during Saturday’s main event but rebounded Sunday to find his way to the top step of the podium. Currently sitting second in the series championship points battle, Roberts will look to try and sweep the weekend at the final event next month and level up the one position he needs.
Jace Park had a stellar weekend in Wisconsin and turned in a double podium performance in the X30 Pro Junior class. Battling hard all weekend long, Park secured a pair of third place finishes to lead the SCR trio. Jack Jeffers and Paul Bocuse both showed speed with Jeffers adding a pair of top-ten finishes in seventh and tenth while Bocuse improved from his 13th place result on Saturday to cross the line in fifth on Sunday. Courtesy of his strong finishes to date, Park is the X30 Pro Junior championship point leader by five markers over his closest rival as all three Speed Concepts Racing drivers sit in the top-ten with Bocuse in sixth and Jeffers in seventh.
A pair of senior drivers pulled double duty this past weekend as Luca Mars and Luke Lange both battled in X30 Pro and KA100 Senior. Mars continued his front of the field presence with three top-five finishes including a fourth on Saturday and a fifth on Sunday in the Pro class, while in KA100 Senior he drove to fifth and seventh. Returning to karting only one race ago, Lange continued his march forward as the speed to compete in the top-five was there, but track position after qualifying hindered strong results. With a strong group of drivers in the X30 Pro ranks, Lange garnered 12th and 15th place results while he went on to score an 11th place finish in KA100 Senior.
“Thank you to our drivers, mechanics, engine builders, support crew and everyone who is making 2020 a success,” explained Mike Speed. “We will keep our head down and pushing towards the next one as we continue our championship hunt.”
