After a year of competition in Europe, Kart Republic’s Santiago Trisini returned to North America to take on the 23rd running of the annual Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals. Moving to the X30 Senior division after competing in Junior all season, Trisini suffered a broken hand, transferred to the main event from the LCQ and drove to a top-twenty result on the temporary street circuit at the RIO All-Suite Hotel and Casino to close his 2019 season.
“I want to win but a top-twenty in this incredible field of drivers is a great result, especially for my first Senior event,” explained Trisini, who just turned fourteen years of age and was the youngest competitor in the X30 Senior class. “It was an up and down weekend, and I thought it was over during a heat race crash that broke a bone in my hand. Begging to race, I was able to get some medication and continue on.”
Classified outside the top-34 after the heat races, Trisini was forced to take on the last chance qualifier race where he managed to squeak his way into the top-six and earn a spot in the main event. Gaining ten positions, Trisni put his Kart Republic chassis in the fifth position to make the transfer to Super Sunday. Starting from the last row and looking to work his way forward, the Miami, Florida resident gained nineteen positions to finish 20th and cap off his 2019 karting season.
Trisini added, “This is the biggest and most difficult race in the United States, so it was a good way to finish the year and I am looking forward to 2020. Senior racing is a little more calculated than Junior as the drivers are aggressive, but also race very hard for every position. While my race plans are still being confirmed, I can’t wait to see what the future has in store. In the meantime, I will be traveling home and going to see the doctor about what to do with my hand.
Santiago Trisini would like to thank Kart Republic, Seth Nash for the help and support through the SuperNationals event week, Nash Motorsports and IAME for the opportunity to compete in the X30 Senior division at the SKUSA SuperNationals.
