It has been nearly three and a half months since Ryan Shehan confirmed his 2021 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda intentions, but the end is near. Set to begin his rookie season next week at the twelve-turn, 2.54-mile Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Ryan Shehan will be one of five drivers in the Team Crosslink quintet as he looks to check the boxes in his first official event. In addition to his debut F4 event, Ryan Shehan is pleased to confirm Speed City Broadcasting as his first official Wingman.
“My goals are pretty simple,” explained Shehan. “I want to win or podium, but I know the F4 field is filled with talent. I have always been one of those believers that to finish first, you first must finish so I will be making that my top priority. I want to complete every race lap and learn. It will be my first F4 event, my first in competition standing start, and my first time to Road Atlanta. There is a lot to take in and a lot to learn.”
As one of the first announcements as a confirmed driver for the 2021 season way back on December 9th, Shehan and his team have had a lot of time to prepare for their new challenge. Locking down partners in their unique B2B and B2C partnership programs and completing several test days ay INDE Motorsports Ranch and MSR Houston in the great state of Texas, Shehan is confident heading into the season.
“I am comfortable in the car and the team has been telling me that I am on pace and have the speed to compete,” added the 16-year-old. “I am anxious to get started and not only learn from my teammates, but also help them where I can.
“Ryan has progressed tremendously in the past few months,” explained Team Manager Sean Owens. “He listens and adapts quickly to what our coaches tell him, and I believe that is one thing that sets him apart from others. He is not a driver that goes out there and goes as hard as he can from the very first corner, but he learns the limits and keeps his aggressiveness in check. His strongest feature is that when he makes a mistake, he admits to it, learns from it and betters himself, and this is one of the reasons why he will be at the pointy end of the field.”
Set for the first event over the March 26-28 weekend, Shehan will take advantage of a Promoters Test Day on Thursday, March 25. Additional practice sessions will take place on Friday with qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel competition on Saturday. Sunday will be the homes to round two and three of the eighteen race series.
Following the event weekend, Ryan will debut his first “Wingman Debrief” show on Wednesday, March 31 at 7pm. The show will be hosted by Jon Massengale from Speed City Broadcasting and will include video and commentary recapping the event and questions from the audience
