Making a switch to the Kart Republic chassis and Fusion Motorsports, Rocco Simone closed his 2023 karting season at the WSK Final Cup at the Franciacorta Karting Track in Brescia, Italy. With a solid qualifying performance in the Mini class, three heat race results in the top-ten, and a prefinal victory, Simone was forced off the track in the main event and crossed the line in a position that was not worthy of his week-long performance.

“I can’t thank Fusion Motorsports and Kart Republic enough for all the help and support,” explained Simone. “A big thank you to Rickard from Kart Republic for helping put the deal together and supporting me along the way.”

In his first event with his new team and chassis, Rocco qualified tenth out of a field of 66 competitors showing the speed and prowess of his new program. In his three heat races, the young Canadian finished sixth, sixth, and fifth, before going on to win his prefinal. Running eighth in the main event, Simone was poised for a solid result before being forced to take evasive action and avoid a crash that dropped him down to the 25th position. Never giving up, Simone was able to work his way back forward, gaining five positions to cross the line 18th.

“The result that Rocco earned in the main event was not deserving of his speed and performance throughout the entire WSK Final Cup,” explained multi-time karting national champion and father, Anthony Simone. “It is a shame that he had to go off track to miss a potentially massive crash, but that is part of racing. Looking forward to what should be a very busy and hectic 2024 race season.”

Hungry for success, but also growth, Simone will see a very busy 2024 season. With events scheduled around the world, Rocco will rack up the air miles as he crisscrosses the globe in the search for race wins and podium results.
