Taking on the final round of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series, Supertune scored two podium results, seven top-five finishes and ten top-tens as they closed out the first of two winter karting programs. Taking home a pair of podium results in the KA100 Junior class, Mateo Rubio-Luengo stood on the podium twice while Anderson Leonard added the prefinal win to his record during Saturday’s wheel-to-wheel action.

“Rounds three and four were definitely better than the first two rounds of the series as the majority of our drivers battled at the front of the field,” explained Supertune’s Ben Cruttenden. “While we had several top-five results, with a little racing luck a few of our drivers could have stood on the podium. We will try again this coming weekend at the Florida Winter Tour in Ocala.”

Four of the seven top-five finishes came on Saturday as Rubio-Luengo led the way with his second place result in KA100 Junior. Anderson Leonard put two in the top-five finishing fourth after winning the day’s prefinal. Rubio-Luengo also secured a top-five result in the X30 Junior class as he and teammate John Burke finished nose to tail in fourth and fifth. Noah Baker had a spirited drive in the main event gaining fourteen positions and was named the biggest mover of the race gaining the most positions to finish 17th.

In the Micro Swift class, it was Alessandro Truchot who improved his results in each and every on-track session on Saturday going from 14th in qualifying to 12th in the prefinal and then tenth in the main event. Sunday proved to be difficult for the young driver as he now shifts his focus to the next event and upcoming chance to stand on the podium. Mini Swift driver Christian Quijano gained twelve positions throughout the day to turn his 24th place qualifying effort into a 12th place run in the main event on Saturday while Sunday saw him finish inside the top-15.

Back to the track on Sunday for the fourth and final round in the SKUSA Winter Series, Rubio-Luengo once again stood on the podium in KA100 Junior while Leonard was just inside the top-five as both drivers matched Saturday’s results. John Burke provided the team’s best finishes in X30 Junior with a ninth place finish as Baker crossed the line in 11th while Rubio-Luengo ran into some trouble finishing 17th after qualifying third.

Racing under the Syntech Racing banner but utilizing Supertune Engines, Mini Swift pilot Parker Delong scored a pair of top-ten results. Finishing ninth on Saturday, Delong returned to the track on Sunday with a vengeance to drive to a fifth place finish after qualifying outside the top-ten.

Team Supertune will make the trek north to Ocala Gran Prix and set up for another on track event this weekend. Taking on the second round of the Florida Winter Tour, team drivers will hit the track on Wednesday for unofficial practice before official competition begins on Friday.
