Under difficult and challenging conditions, Black Sheep Racing drivers were able to attain podium results and top-five finishes. Competing at the famed Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, and under heat indexes that were greater than 110 degrees Fahrenheit, both Laura Ely and Kenton King scored podium finishes with Josh Conley having his best run of the season.

Qualifying took place on Saturday morning and Ely was able to earn the second fastest lap in the Am class while King slotted his machine into the third position in the Pro/Am division. Behind King, Conley was ninth in the Pro/Am ranks as the team shifted their focus to the first wheel-to-wheel racing on the weekend.

With temperatures soaring above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the Black Sheep Racing drivers took to the track in the quest to earn race wins and podium results. Holding station from their qualifying positions, both Ely and King were able to climb to the podium in their respective classes with Ely finishing second in class and King in P3. The biggest mover of the three BSR drivers was Conley as he advanced forward four positions to move from ninth on the grid to fifth on the results sheet with all team drivers finishing inside the top-five.

Race two on the weekend saw another pair of podium results for King and Ely as King was able to climb to the second step of the podium in the Pro/Am class while Ely finished third in class to make it a double podium weekend for both competitors. Looking to repeat his performance from the day prior, Conley crossed the line eighth in class to earn his second top-ten of the weekend.

“What a weekend both on and off the track,” explained Business Development Manager Chris Stiffler. “Our team did an incredible job in tough conditions. Off the track, we had a ton of guests and continue to expand our business-to-business efforts.”
