P1 Engines comes home victorious once again at the final round of the SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) California ProKart Challenge, the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix. Coming into the event with a strong contingent of drivers running a P1 power plant, the team scored two victories, three podium finishes, multiple top-five finishes, and a championship, a strong showing to close out their ProKart season.
X30 Senior driver Dante Yu used his momentum from his round five ProKart Challenge win to keep him out front in round six. He started the event with a second place qualifying effort, going on to earn a third place and a win in the heat races. In the main, Yu commanded the lead early on and took the win by over ten seconds. Fellow P1 Engine drivers Nick Ramirez, Andrick Zeen, and Worawong Komarakul finished fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively. Colby Dubato came home with a tenth place finish in the X30 Senior field.
In X30 Junior, Tomas Mejia showed great pace throughout the event, qualifying in the fourth spot, and improving to third in heat one and first in heat two. Mejia started the final on pole, but was involved in some contact during the race that would force him to retire early. Kameron Perry improved throughout the day from his 13th place qualifying spot, finishing off the day with a second place podium result.
Oliver Calvo managed to stay out of trouble during the heat races and position himself with a solid starting spot for the final. When the green flag flew, he took the lead and never looked back, scoring the victory by over a second. Bijoy Garg had his best finish yet in the ProKart series, branching into the top-five with a fourth place finish in the main. Jared Korth scored a fifth place finish, marking four P1 Engines drivers in the top-five.
Jess Peterson and Stu Hayner flew the P1 Engines flag in the X30 Masters category. Peterson had a great showing in the final, battling for the lead throughout the race and earning the fast lap of the race. When the checkered flew, he would settle for second place. Hayner made his ProKart debut at the prestigious street race, improving throughout the heat races to bring home a fifth place finish in the final.
In Micro Swift, Ethan Nascimento showed speed early on, running at the front of the field all weekend. In the main, Nascimento held the lead by over a second, but a small mistake caused him to finish second. Logan Toke ran into trouble in the heat race, causing him to lose his lead and retire from the race early. In the main, Toke began his comeback on the start, making his way up to fifth. Once again, he encountered contact during the race, but managed a ninth-place finish in the end. His finish allowed him to secure the California ProKart Challenge Championship.
Jackson Menchu and Daniel Inzunza piloted their P1 powerplants in Mini Swift. Menchu had a roller coaster weekend. He qualified fourth and improved to second in heat one, and earned a top-ten finish in heat two. In the main, Menchu’s luck took a turn for the worst. Making his way up to the fourth spot, he was involved in a crash and taken to the hospital, luckily escaping with only a few bruises. Inzunza had the best finishing result in the final, scoring a fifth place finish.
