ONE WIN AND THREE PODIUMS FOR COLIN QUEEN AT CROFT CIRCUIT

It was a winning weekend for American Colin Queen at the Croft Circuit in Northern England this past weekend. Competing in the BRSCC National Formula Ford Championship, Queen pushed his Ammonite Motorsport team to a trio of podium results including a win in the third and final wheel-to-wheel race of the weekend.

Driving at the Croft Circuit for the very first time, Queen progressed through Friday’s test sessions to learn the track and fine tune his car’s setup for the weekend. Saturday morning greeted teams and competitors with warm and sunny weather as Queen was able to turn the third fastest lap of the session and start his first race from the inside of row two in a competitive field of thirty-two cars, just behind the 2021 Formula Ford Festival race winner.

The first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend was decided amongst a fierce battle between three hungry competitors. Running in the top-five, a pair of drivers in front of Queen collided opening the door for him to advance forward and earn a second-place result. The second race of the weekend was another second-place finish for the Californian as lapped traffic interrupted his fight to earn the top position.

“Two second place results are good, but it makes me that much hungrier for the race win,” explained Queen. “I am competing against some of the nation’s top drivers at a track that I have never been to and am holding my own, but I want to make America proud and stand on top of the podium.”

Race three was a reverse grid which had Queen starting in the sixth position. Having an incredible first lap overtaking three cars by the end of the opening lap, Queen was in the hunt for the win. Colin caught the lead group and reeled in the leader. After two laps behind the current leader, Colin passed him on the entry into Sunny In Corner on the penultimate lap, only four corners from the end to take the win.

Queen added, “The win was a great finish to the weekend, I am especially happy I could put it on the top step for the team.”
