As the 2024 season progresses, Nitro Motorsports is maintaining an impressive streak of podium finishes in each Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli race. This weekend’s race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course promises to be another battle, with Nitro Motorsports bringing a team of seven competitors, including the 2024 TA2 point leader Rafa Matos and the 2023 series champion Brent Crews. Currently, Nitro Motorsports holds three of the top four positions in the point standings, a testament to their consistent performance and competitive spirit.

“We have had a lot of success to date in 2024, and we want to continue that,” explained Nitro Motorsports Nick Tucker. “We continue to achieve our goals each race weekend, and we will be looking to do the same in Ohio.”

Leading the charge for Nitro Motorsports is Rafa Matos, a force to be reckoned with who has secured three wins this season and claimed the top spot on the podium in the last two events. His dominance, however, is not unchallenged, as he faces stiff competition from his Nitro Motorsports teammates Thomas Annunziata and 2024 race winner Ben Maier. Annunziata, currently second in the point battle, has two podium results this season and a consistent track record of finishing in the top-five. Maier, with his impressive speed and multiple fast lap honors, has secured one win, two podium results, and finished the last three races inside the top-five.

Brent Crews, the 2023 TA2 Champion, has one start this season and one podium result and will look to find his way to the top step of the podium while Gio Ruggiero is set to make his third start of the season after strong runs in the NASCAR-sanctioned ARCA program.

A pair of TA2 Pro/Am drivers will be looking for the win in their class as team newcomer Jared Odrick sits fourth in the championship standings on the strength of two podium results. Looking to finish out the 2024 season strong and make a run at the title, Odrick is looking forward to his second start with Nitro Motorsports this weekend. Joining Odrick in the Pro/Am class will be Cale Phillips, who is making his first start in the series since the second event of 2024 at Road Atlanta.

Tucker added, “Wins, podiums, pole position, and fast lap honors are on the cards this weekend, and we will look to do that all this weekend.”

Nitro Motorsports will be on track Thursday for a pair of test sessions before qualifying takes place on Friday with wheel-to-wheel action will be commencing Saturday afternoon.
