Momentum meets opportunity this weekend as Nicolas Stati prepares for his first doubleheader in the INDY NXT by Firestone competition at Barber Motorsports Park. Following progress in the opening rounds at St. Petersburg and Arlington, the Australian driver arrives in Birmingham, Alabama, focused on converting early promise into results.
The Grand Prix of Alabama will feature Rounds Three and Four of the 2026 season, offering Stati his first opportunity to compete in a multi-race weekend format in the series. The 2.38-mile, 17-turn road course is defined by fast corners and shifting elevation, one that Stati is looking forward to.
“I feel like we’ve taken good steps forward throughout pre-season testing and the first two rounds,” commented Stati. “Each session, I’m getting more comfortable with the car and understanding what I need from it. Barber is a technical track that favors clean, consistent driving, so having that testing experience there definitely helps. The goal this weekend is to execute across both races and come away with strong finishes.”
Stati returns to Barber with prior experience from pre-season testing in November, giving him a useful reference point as he continues to develop with the #15 Cusick Morgan Motorsports entry. Across the first two rounds, the Australian has demonstrated encouraging pace while continuing to build confidence and familiarity with the car. Now, the focus shifts to turning that progress into results.
With limited track time before qualifying, Friday’s sole practice session will be critical in dialing in the car. Saturday features Qualifying followed by Race One at 1:00 PM ET, while Race Two will take place Sunday at 11:00 AM ET. Both races will air live on FS1 and FOX One.
