It is a new race week for Ryan MacDermid, and he will enter the penultimate round of the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda with a new team. Joining the Velocity Racing Development (VRD) program, the talented Canadian will be part of a multi-car effort for the remainder of the 2019 season and has his sights set on the top step of the podium in Florida.

“First off, I need to thank Gas Monkey Energy, Alliance Racing, Toney Edwards and their entire crew for helping me in my transition from karts to cars. They are a great program and it feels like a family,” explained MacDermid. “On the other hand, I am excited for new opportunities and a new direction with Dan Mitchell and VRD. We had a successful one-day test, but now we will see what we can do in race trim against the rest of the F4 competition.”

As a rookie in the series, MacDermid has had flashes of brilliance including several top-ten finishes and a couple stellar runs into the top-five. The young Canadian has taken great care of his equipment finishing each and every race that he has started.

MacDermid added, “The guys at VRD made me feel right at home. They have a different approach than what I was used to, so I needed to adapt. I also needed to adapt my driving slightly as the car setup is different. By the time we got to the end of the first day, I was turning some competitive times, so I am hopeful as we move into Sebring this weekend and onwards to Austin, Texas in a few weeks.”

Sitting 11th on the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda point standings, MacDermid has scored points in seven of twelve races and with a few strong events to close the year, could find himself close to the top-five in points.

With a Promoters Test Day allowing drivers to hit the track on Thursday, the official event weekend will commence on Friday with a pair of practice sessions and qualifying. Saturday will host a pair of wheel-to-wheel events with race one and two of the weekend while Sunday will be the home of race three.
