NATHAN DUPUIS EYES CONTINUED CLIMB AS TOYOTA GR CUP HEADS TO ROAD AMERICA

Nathan Dupuis, with support from KCN Campgrounds, and Copeland Motorsports are looking to keep their season building in the right direction as the Toyota GR Cup North America program heads to Road America for Rounds 9 and 10 over the August 28-30 weekend. Dupuis arrives at the legendary Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin circuit fresh off one of his strongest results of the year, a top-ten finish at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta that saw him gain a combined 13 positions across both races.

The Road Atlanta weekend was far from straightforward. A red flag cut short Saturday qualifying before Dupuis could find his rhythm on the circuit’s demanding elevation changes, leaving him 20th on the Race 1 grid. He responded by working forward to 13th, then carried that momentum into Sunday, qualifying 14th before charging to an eighth-place finish and valuable championship points. That kind of late-weekend surge is exactly the form Dupuis and the Copeland Motorsports team hope to bring to Road America.

Road America presents a very different challenge than Road Atlanta. The 4.048-mile, 14-turn natural terrain road course is one of the fastest and most storied circuits in North American road racing, known for its long straights, high average speeds, and iconic corners like Canada Corner and the Kink. For a GR Cup field still searching for every tenth, the flowing, high-speed layout should reward a car that’s balanced and a driver who’s confident carrying speed through fast, committed corners.

With Rounds 9 and 10 at Road America marking the midpoint of the season’s back half, the weekend carries real championship weight. Four rounds remain after Elkhart Lake — Barber Motorsports Park in September and a season finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in October — and every point gained or lost over this doubleheader will factor into how that fight plays out.

“Road Atlanta gave us a lot of confidence heading into this next block of races,” explained Dupuis, who is excited to carry the KCN Campgrounds logo this weekend on the hood of his new livery. “We showed we can fight back from a tough starting position and still walk away with a strong result, and that’s the mentality we’re bringing to Road America. It’s a track I’ve always wanted to race on — it’s fast, it’s historic, and I think it should suit our car well. My goal is to carry the momentum from Road Atlanta right into this weekend and keep climbing forward in the championship.”

Following the Road America weekend, the Toyota GR Cup North America program continues with Rounds 11 and 12 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, September 25-27, ahead of the season finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in October.
