Megan Tomlinson added another chapter to her steadily growing racing story this past weekend as she tackled Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) in Round 7 of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Sharing the cockpit once again with her father, Ron Tomlinson, Megan wheeled the #37 Precision Racing LA Audi RS3 LMS TCR through 76 laps of the fast and treacherous ten-turn circuit, ultimately crossing the line ninth in class.
Known for its elevation changes and old-school layout, CTMP isn’t just any stop on the IMSA schedule. It’s the only international round of the season, and the home event for the Canadian female, adding an extra layer of excitement for her and the entire paddock. CTMP was also another chance to refine craft and to enjoy the unique experience of racing with her dad as co-driver.
“Racing with my dad continues to be something I’ll never take for granted,” explained Megan. “We really found our rhythm this weekend and made the most of every session. The Precision Racing LA crew gave us a strong car, and it felt great to move forward in the race and finish in the top-ten at a place as iconic as CTMP.”
After qualifying tenth in class, the father-daughter duo maintained focus and composure throughout the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120. Their steady pace and consistent stints rewarded them with a well-earned ninth-place finish, another positive step in what is a season of growth and valuable experience for Megan.
Megan continued, “We battled hard but had a slow pit stop that put us behind our competition, overcame adversity, and pushed through the caution periods to finish ninth. After having one of our better qualifying sessions of the season, the goal was to maintain or improve our positions, and we did just that. Without the pit stop issue, we could have challenged for the top-five but sometimes the racing gods go against you.”
Now, all eyes turn to Road America, the longest circuit on the IMSA calendar, where Megan and the team will look to continue their upward trajectory from July 31st through August 2nd. With each event, she continues to build not just results, but memories and momentum that will carry her forward in the sport.
