The eighth IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race weekend of the season is coming up fast and teenager Tyler Maxson has been a front runner when it comes to speed in the series this year. Scoring a total of four pole positions in the six races, Maxson and his Bryan Herta Autosport co-driver Mason Filippi will look to do it again in their Hyundai Elantra as they take the battle for the trophy to the 1.5-mile circuit of Lime Rock Park this weekend in Connecticut.

“We’ve just had some really bad luck this season when it comes to race day, but we are hoping that the black cloud is gone at Lime Rock,” explained Maxson, “We’ve scored multiple pole positions this year so we know the speed is there, we just have to execute it right in the race and have some luck. That’s going to be the focus this weekend.”

Maxson added, “I always look forward to Lime Rock Park. The fast track provides for some of the best racing all season long as it is a high speed chess match. While it is important to be fast, it is more important to position yourself for a chance to attack in the final thirty minutes of the race. We have proven our pace in qualifying throughout 2022, and will look to continue that, but also top the podium for Bryan Herta Autosport, the hardest working crew in the paddock, and Hyundai. A win or podium this weekend can really go a long way in helping finish our 2022 season strong.”

Piloting his Hyundai Elantra N TCR this weekend, Maxson will take part in a pair of practice sessions and the ever-important qualifying on Friday before the two-hour Lime Rock Park 120 race takes the green flag at 11:05am on Saturday morning.
