After earning his career-best result at the VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) a few weeks ago, Copeland Motorsports driver Max Opalski is hoping to carry that momentum into the Idemtisu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BF Goodrich season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this weekend. Marking the close of the 2022 season, Opalski will be looking to reset his season-best result at the natural terrain road course.

Mazda MX-5 Cup rookie Max Opalski has continued to impress as the season has progressed this year, finishing his best finish in eighth out of 28 cars at VIR and is trending in the right direction to build momentum for his 2023 campaign.

“It’s definitely been a year of learning and growing in my driving, but it’s been a positive incline as the year has gone by,” explained Opalski as he reflects on his 2022 season to date. “I would really like to thank Copeland Motorsports and all my partners for their continued support. I hope to make them proud again this weekend.”

Opalski currently sits in the eighth position of nearly 20 rookies that have scored championship points this season.

Opalski added “We’ve proven that we have what it takes to compete with the top players in this series. We would have been in the top-five at VIR if not for a penalty. All I can do now is to continue pushing and using what I’ve learned to improve my results.”

Opalski, in tandem with Copeland Motorsports, will hit the 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course track of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta beginning Wednesday for a pair of practice sessions followed by qualifying. The green flag for race one will fly at 1:50pm Eastern on Thursday before returning Friday for one last race of the season at 9:50am. Be sure to follow all the action on the Mazda MX-5 Cup website.
