Canadian Marco Kacic has officially signed with MRS GT Racing to compete in the 2023 German Prototype Cup. With the first event over the April 28-30 weekend, Kacic, who is now confirmed for rounds one and two, will head to Germany in the next few weeks for his first test with MRS ahead of the 2023 season.
“I’m really excited to announce that I will be heading to Europe to race in the German Prototype Cup,” explained Marco Kacic. “I am confirmed to race with the MRS race team for the first two rounds of the season. In order to race in the full season, I will need to secure some more funding, however, I’m optimistic and hopeful that we will be able to compete in every round of the 2023 German Prototype Cup.”
“Molitor-Racing-Systems is happy to have Marco join MRS in the 2023 German Prototype Cup,” added Johan Koning Hemmerling, Team Manager. “We are confident that Marco will be a good fit for the team. His open-wheel background should give him a comfortable transition to prototype competition, and we are excited to get him in the car and working with the team very soon.”
MRS competed in German Prototype Cup in 2022 as well as the 2023 IMSA ROLEX 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring. Motivated for success, MRS and Kacic bring the same desire and drive to win into one program.
With the first event at the Hockenheimring in late April, Kacic will also see action at the end of May as he travels to Oschersleben. A veteran open-wheel racer and with some experience in the sportscar ranks, Kacic is hoping that MRS will be the missing link that he needs to get back behind the wheel of a racecar on a full-time basis.
