Scoring one of the biggest karting victories less than a month ago, Canadian motorsports driver Mackenzie Clark is leveling up in 2019. Already confirmed to compete with Trevor Wicken’s Prime Power Team on a BirelART chassis at North America’s biggest karting events, Clark has also joined Brian Graham Racing (BGR) to campaign a BGR Piper in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Series and select Quebec Formula Tour 1600 events.
“We are very excited about the upcoming season with Mackenzie and will work very hard to give him and his teammates everything they need to maximize their results. We have been working with “Mac” for a while and he fits right in with our team. He has an outstanding karting resume and early testing indicates he will bring an eagerness to learn and develop his skills in F1600,” comments team Principal Brian Graham.
“I am super excited to start a new chapter in my career with Brian Graham Racing, I can’t wait for Brian to take me to the next level like he has done for so many other pro drivers,” added Clark. “F1600 racing will be a big step in my journey up the motorsports ladder. I am pumped to see what we can do in 2019 with BGR. I feel privileged to have the opportunity of racing in the F1600 series, racing on the same tracks as the people I look up to. Circuits such as Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve are a large part of Canadian motorsports. The atmosphere in the car racing paddock is great and I look forward to becoming a part of it.”
Mackenzie Clark will make the move to formula car racing with a healthy resume of karting results. Through two months of the 2019 season, Mac has garnered four podium results including a main event victory at the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series at the AMR Motorplex in Homestead, Florida. In 2018, Clark was selected by Pfaff Motorsports to enter their Young Driver program as well as represented his country on Team Canada at the international karting events for the past two seasons. The youngest driver to obtain a car racing license in 2018, Clark is the current youngest driver in Canada to hold a full SCCA Competition Racing License and with that, has his eyes positioned at the upper echelon of motorsports in North America.
