After a solid start to the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama season, including one win and two podiums for Laura Ely, Black Sheep Racing, along with BSR newcomer, Greg Herback, is looking for more this weekend at the Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) in Grantsville, Utah. Entering the second weekend of their 2024 campaign, Ely is currently at the head of the championship point standings and has no intentions of slowing down.

“I wanted to kick off the year with solid results and did so, but now the goal is to continue that momentum and put pressure on my competitors,” explained the 64-year-old Ely. “Utah is a track that we have had success on in the past, and I am looking for more this weekend. Also, we are pleased to welcome Greg Herback to Black Sheep Racing as he will be competing in the GT4 Masters class.”

“I’m excited to enter the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West series,” Greg Herback added. “It’s a new journey for me, but I have a history in ski racing. I’m going to apply my ski racing experiences to motor racing. I’m very grateful to have help from the Black Sheep Racing team. They’re a great group of people.”

Along with a new driver, Black Sheep Racing will also lean on the coaching services of Eric Filgueiras, a former GT America GT4 and GT3 Champion.

Ely added, “Adding Eric into our mix will give us just a little bit more knowledge and experience to help us stay ahead of our competition. I really like where we are now at Black Sheep Racing and look forward to continuing our recent results streak.”

Set to hit the track Friday with three test sessions and one practice, Saturday will open with practice two, qualifying, and then race one before a short warmup session Sunday morning and race two Sunday afternoon. Catch all the action at PorscheSprint.com.
