It was another cross-country trek for Black Sheep Racing as the two-car effort competed this past weekend at the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America program at the VIRginia International Raceway (VIR). Leaving VIR with a pair of podium results on Saturday, BSR bettered those results on Sunday with another two trips to the podium block including a USA West 991 class race win at the hands of Laura Ely.

“Great weekend for the team,” expressed Chris Stiffler. “We have cars and drivers that can be on the podium each and every week. The team has really come together this year and the results are proof of that. We want to continue to win, podium and grow the Black Sheep Racing Porsche program in 2022 and 2023.”

Kenton King would lead the way for the BSR squad in qualifying for Saturday’s wheel-to-wheel competition as he led Laura Ely on the results sheet with the duo claiming second and third place starting positions. Race one would see the pair run together on track, but this time Ely would get the best of the pair as she crossed the line in the second position, just ahead of King in third as the pair celebrated on the podium.

Returning to the track on Sunday, it was Ely’s turn to top the BSR drivers on the results sheet as she managed to find herself on the top step of the podium. Taking the USA West 991 class race win, Ely flexed her muscles as one of the drivers to beat in the growing Porsche Sprint Challenge North America program. With a third-place result on Saturday, King joined Ely on the podium in the third position adding back-to-back days with double podium results for Black Sheep Racing.

Stiffler added, “What more can you ask for with two cars? The progress that this team has made year after year is incredible and that comes down to the hard work of the crew and drivers. We can’t thank them enough for their efforts and we will continue to push forward.”

Heading to Road America, Laura Ely sits second in the championship point standings, only a single marker from the current point leader.

Next stop for Black Sheep Racing is July 27-29 at the 4.014-mile, 14-turn Road America facility in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
