It’s the final major event on the 2021 North American karting calendar and Jorge Ortiz is chalking it up as the most important of the year. Competing in the X30 Junior class at the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals, Ortiz will pilot a Supertune USA prepared and SpeedLab Racing Engines powered Tony Kart on the temporary circuit adjacent to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“I am excited to get back to Las Vegas and see if I can win again,” added Jorge Ortiz, who won the ROK Vegas event back in 2019 at the RIO All-Suites Hotel and Casino in the 100cc Junior class. “I am still one of the youngest drivers in the class but know that I have what it takes to win.”
Beginning his tenure with Supertune back in 2018, Ortiz is a victor in the United States Pro Kart Series, and the Florida Karting Championship Series. A podium winner at the Florida Winter Tour, Ortiz claimed several fastest race laps in the past three years, but he has his sights firmly set on the top step of the podium at this year’s SKUSA SuperNationals.
Ortiz added, “I love temporary circuits and ran up front a few weeks ago at the ROK Vegas winning one of the heat races. We had some bad luck in the main event but still managed an eighth-place result. This coming weekend, we have reset the goals and will look to win!”
The SuperNationals will feature a large field of Junior drivers and will be one of the toughest events of the 2021 season. Jorge will hit the track on Wednesday as he prepares for his goal, a win on Super Sunday. Qualifying will take place on Thursday before heat races commence on Friday and Saturday with SuperNationals Champions being crowned on Sunday.
