It is the start of a new season for Jimmie Lockhart as the young VRD Racing driver is prepared to start his second series of competition in 2023. After earning two race wins in the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda, Lockhart will start his main series of focus this weekend on the USF Juniors Presented by Cooper Tires, part of the growing USF Pro Championships ladder program.
“We are entering the weekend on a bit of a high, and I look forward to trying to carry that momentum and climb back on the podium,” explained Lockhart. “I earned my first open-wheel victory earlier this month and that has made me even hungrier for more!”
Testing and training throughout the off-season, Lockhart is primed and ready to kick off a new campaign with VRD Racing. As one of the favorites for race wins, podium results, and the series title, Lockhart will start his quest this weekend at the bumpy Sebring International Raceway.
Lockhart added, “I need to thank everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. My goal is to continue to win, and I look forward to the new challenges that will be presented to me this weekend in Sebring.”
Set to hit the track Thursday, Lockhart will take part in the one and only practice session before qualifying and the first wheel-to-wheel race that afternoon. Returning to the track on Friday, Lockhart will battle in rounds two and three of the season as the quick two-day event concludes with a total of three races and three opportunities to stand atop the podium.
