Graduating from the karting ranks and into open wheel competition at the end of the 2016 season, Elliot Finlayson is now set to make his first United States Formula 4 start. Teaming with Jay Howard’s Motorsports Driver Development program (MDD), Finlayson will make his series debut this coming weekend at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR).

“Elliot has been at the front of the field in whatever he races,” explained Jay Howard. “He has won his fair share of SCCA events in the past few months and will be up to speed quickly in our F4 machines. I anticipate that he will be on pace during the first session as he is a quick study and has gained the necessary experience to be quick out of the box.”

Finlayson will join the MDD effort after competing in the Formula Enterprise program throughout the 2017 season. A former multi-time karting race winner and champion, Finlayson claimed the United States Pro Kart Series IAME Pro title in 2015 before making the jump to open wheel formula cars. This season, Finlayson has secured the SCCA Super Tour championship, SCCA Northern Conference Majors Tour Championship as well as the famed June Sprints at Road America. Finalyson has also been selected to take part in the Team USA Scholarship program that has helped many young Americans launch a professional career in the world of motorsports.

“I am excited at the opportunity to join MDD. They have a very professional approach and I think that I will fit in perfectly there,” added Finlayson. “The F4 car is something that we have been looking at for a while and the United States F4 Championship is something that I have been following with the goal to compete. This weekend I will be looking to make the best of my opportunity.”
